The town of Enon, Ohio has a unique story behind it. In the early 1990's, Enon was the center of all sorts of controversy over whether or not a chemical called chloroform gas was being released into the atmosphere in Enon by the power plant. Many experts believed that the air in Enon was much higher in chloroform than the surrounding area, which could explain why so many people were suffering from chronic symptoms such as headaches and respiratory ailments. In order to settle the dispute, the residents of Enon were given compensation for all of their medical bills from the time they were affected by the air quality, and the residents were even given their own memorial statue to be placed in their memory.
